About Me
I'm Stefanie Simonet, born in 1984 and living in South Africa since 2014. I blame my parents for the South Africa virus infection. My whole family is affected by it and the only effective treatment is to visit this country regularly, with everyone spending time in Kruger National Park in particular.
I visited South Africa for the first time in 2001. Together with my family we visited the Kruger National Park, Durban and the Wild Coast. This unforgettable time made us reminisce for years until we decided to book the next trip to South Africa in 2004. Now almost every three years you can find us or part of my family in South Africa and by now we spend around 21 days at a time in the Kruger only.
For three years I worked as a graphic designer in a small studio before I gave up this profession and decided to become a field guide, training in the bush of South Africa. The environment, the animals and plants, as well as the training itself invigorated me so much that I quickly realised – this is it! I will stay here and fight for the dream of being able to stay in South Africa as a safari guide. I worked as a guide and tour leader on overland safaris for 5 years, visiting the most beautiful places in Southern Africa. Since 2022 I am a part of Lerato Adventures and get to live out my love for details and share my enthusiasm for the African bush with like-minded people.
Every minute I spend in the African bush with all its sounds, smells and visuals fills me with joy. I am never bored here and every day teaches me something new. I can't imagine a more beautiful job.
