Bwindi Impenetrable national park

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a renowned national park located in southwestern Uganda and covers an area of approximately 331 km². The park is primarily known for its population of the critically endangered mountain gorillas. It is estimated that around 400 mountain gorillas reside in Bwindi, making it a vital habitat for their survival. The park has been instrumental in the conservation efforts to protect these magnificent creatures. In addition to gorillas, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park supports a diverse range of flora and fauna. It is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its rich biodiversity. The park is home to over 120 mammal species, including chimpanzees, colobus monkeys, and various antelope species.

Kibale Forest National Park is a protected area located in western Uganda covering an area of about 795 km². It is one of the most popular national parks in the country, known for its diverse array of wildlife and its large population of chimpanzees. The park is renowned for its rich biodiversity, particularly its primate population as it is home to over 13 species of primates, including the common chimpanzee, red colobus monkey, black-and-white colobus monkey, L'Hoest's monkey, blue monkey, and more. Kibale Forest also hosts a variety of bird species and other mammals.

Queen Elizabeth National Park

Queen Elizabeth National Park is located in southwestern Uganda and covers an area of about 1'978 km². Named after Queen Elizabeth II it is known for its diverse ecosystems and wildlife. One of the main attractions of the park is its abundant wildlife. The park is home to over 95 mammal species, including elephants, lions, leopards, buffaloes, hippos, and chimpanzees. The Ishasha sector of the park, located in the southern part, is famous for its tree-climbing lions – a sight to behold. Visitors can observe this unique behaviour in lions as they rest on tree branches, something not commonly seen in other lion populations.
